You’ll be able to get higher temps and direct flame with the pit boss adjustable vents for searing steaks and other things. To me it seems like a Swiss Army knife. You can smoke long and slow, or open the vents for direct flame if you want to cook faster. That’s the main reason I chose pit boss.

I picked up one on Craigslist almost brand new about 4 months ago. Came with a smoke tube and cover. So easy to use and versatile. I will say that the legs on it seem a little shaky but we don't move ours so it wasn't (or isn't) an issue.

Cooked pork ribs a number of times, beef ribs once, pork butt a few times and burnt ends out of a point and burnt ends out of pork shoulder. Beef and Chicken fajitas a bunch a times. All came out great. Not very smokey at all without a smoke tube I will say that.

Have a fairly large pit with a connected firebox and it is a pain compared with the Pit Boss grill. My uncle has a Traeger and he loves it. Saw a bunch of great reviews and recommendations for Rec Tec but thought I would give Pit Boss a try since I picked it up so cheap. When this goes I will probably go to a Rec Tec but for now very happy.
