Green onions here.
I've heard them called shallots many times, but that is not close to what a shallot is.

Those are definitely not shallots.
I call them green onions most of the time.

They're called shallots in cajun French.
It doesn't make sense, as scallions have a real French word, but there's a lot of things that don't make sense in cajun French.
