This is so interesting. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a recipe call for shallots that didn’t mean actual shallots. I’ve seen them called scallions a ton of times, but anytime I see shallot I assume actual shallot.

Hasn't happened often and mostly with some older recipes in old cookbooks. I see scallions more often than shallots.
