re: Self install metal roof?

AS a person who designed, estimated, material breakdown and then supervised over 1.5 million square feet of metal roof at Walt Disney World .....

1. Trash the American Standard BS on installing metal roofs. That is written around the old Copper Roof guys who sautered the seams and flashing ....It does no good on steel or aluminum.

2. I would find a local machine shop with a ten foot hand break. They can bend to your pitch and make all trim metal and flashings you need. At Disney we had five on site.

3. When you cut angles in panels ....what do you intend to do with cut edges? That cut panel may be at the ridge area ....exactly how do you intend to make that water tight? If you intend to use silicone forget it. The first time the temperature climbs ..that silicone breaks it's bod between metals and now is a piece of useless plastic floating around under the surface of the panel....with no water seepage capability whatsoever.

Two pieces of metal have electronic capability ....they will draw water uphill.

I can write a book if you wish ..... the trouble with all of this? The backyard ...I install metal roofs people are just and useless ......Good Luck ...

And Roofer Guys ...I meant to insult you all the way ...I fired crew after crew at Disney because of the useless habits of backyard ...roofers.
