I’ve never applied for a job that didn’t have some sort of salary info advertised

Since leaving my hourly technician position at age 24, I have never applied for a job that did advertise salary. It's on you to figure out how much you are worth (not how much you think you're worth) and on the company to figure out how much they are willing to pay.

It's a waste of everyone's time if there isn't at least some sort of understanding of expected pay for a potential position.

A friend of mine interviewed for a job that has a national average of ~75k (state average is roughly the same), when they got down to discussing pay, the hospital wanted to pay her ~30k

ETA: more transparency is always better, IMO

I had a similar experience too that I'm just remembering. I interviewed for a job in Hawaii. Interview went well, and they wanted to discuss salary. They were going to pay me the same in Hawaii that I was making in New Orleans, if I knew that going into the interview I wouldn't have even taken it. The salary was a non-starter.
