The “READ” bumper sticker. . .

Probably the second most cringe bumper sticker of all time, imo (Even more than Salt Life)
Question for those of you on here that are culprits:
WHY??!
Follow up Question: are you actually so delusional that we don’t see that you are virtue signaling, preening, and posing...instead of hoping your “READ!” decree will actually be obeyed ?

Can I get a list of things that aren't virtue signaling? Y'all claim damn near every opinion or display is virtue signaling. Calling something "virtue signaling" is the worst king of virtue signaling.

He wiped the drool from his chin. Then blinked for the first time in 30 seconds
‘That was close’, he finally thought.
The second Pling! sound from his phone reminded him that he hadn’t read that text after the first Pling!
[Yo. Lebron got dis :lol emoticon: See U at B dubs]
He wiped more drool. Then thought of the sticker on the back of the Honda Element he had just almost rear ended....
And texted back
[Sorry dog. Aint tryna b down wit dat. Tonight, I gon READ!”
Then he drove off 10 mph under the speed limit in the passing lane. With a blinker on the whole way home

I said in OP that "READ" was the second most cringe because "COEXIST" is at #1 by a mile.
The "READ" sticker like most bumper stickers is just people with shitty instincts thinking that they're impressing strangers. It's elevated to #2 though because of it being a command. Wagging a finger and barking orders at complete strangers demanding that they do an activity so that they can be as virtuous as the sticker owner is hilarious. And that is a fact.
"Coexist!", on the other hand, checks all the same boxes as "READ!", but what takes it into the stratosphere at #1 by light years is how shockingly ignorant the command is.

I see a lot of "Be nice. You"re in Oregon" bumper stickers here.
Even though people are really friendly here, those bumper stickers still bug me when I see them.
Kinda ironic to be telling others to be nice while you're being bossy.

We should do an experiment:
-everyone walk up to a group of strangers, put hands on hip while poking out lower lip, then yell “Read!”
-report back and tell us how it went

I've still never seen one of these bumper stickers. On the other hand, my state isn't known for being able to read.

Follow, Follow up question:
Do you realize that all bumper stickers are some kind of pathetic “signaling” or so you think things like references to 3:16 are some kind of exempt category?
Even super personal one like an epitaph for a loved one fall in this catagory.” EVERYONE LOOK AT HOW MUCH I CARE!”

I said exactly that in a separate post in this very thread.
Here’s a word of advice for you. READ!

I did see it. But your feelings seem awfully specific when your complaints are broadly applicable. Briefly acknowledging it to attempt to side step the counter before revisiting the rage on a specific sticker doesn’t really change anything.

No. I typed that that the sky is blue in a post in this very thread, and then she jumped in and wagged her finger at me lecturing “Oh yeah, well did you ever consider that the sky is blue.?”
Beyond that, this is the Book Board, An entirely appropriate place to mock the hilarity of the “READ!” sticker.

Ya but you haven't really given any reason as to why read is worse than say a political bumper sticker.
You seem to be singling this one out of an ocean of terrible bumper stickers for tenuous at best reasoning.

And the schools are doing it too.Currently, I’m seeing a lot “my child read a million words” . I’m seeing such signs as that on front lawns in neighborhoods. And one school’s marquee was congratulating all of their “million word readers”. I don’t think it’s a good theme, to focus on the number of words a child has read. I can imagine kids speed reading through a book, just to increase their word count or whatever and maybe surpass another classmate, and possibly they don’t absorb the proper level of enjoyment or enrichment from the story they’re reading. It becomes all about reaching a number. ( and I haven’t seen the “Read” sticker here in Lafayette, but my liberal sister has the cringy “Coexist “ sticker on her car, plus a BLM yard sign that says “Hate has no home here”. Yeah, right. LOL. She hates Trump, hates conservatives, hates white guys.
