No exact numbers are available but scholars put the estimate of slain soldiers on the low end at 680,000 and on the high end at 805,000. So it may be somewhat of a little more consequence than Benedict Arnold. There are still reverberations that echo from the southern reconstruction movement that continue today. But people seem to belittle or at least quickly dismiss the horrific weight that this civil war cost in our nations history.
