was there a big SCOTUS case regarding medical television ads a while back, or did I dream that up? I feel like this has been a big issue for a long time. Or rather, you never saw the commercials and then a ruling came down and all of a sudden every other commercial was for medicine.

Not all pharma companies are created equal.
Not all pharma drugs are created equal.
The pharma industry is one of the more heavily regulated industries on the planet!!
Offering free pens and note pads with a drug logo is illegal. Offering lunch to the staff so the doctor has 5 minutes to review the safety profile, appropriate and inappropriate patients, how to get the insurance to cover it etc is the extent of 95% of doctor interaction with pharma companies and every dime is tracked and applied to a database that shines a light on how much an individual physician gets from an individual pharma company.
On the political level, DC that may be a different story.
Broad stroke demonization should be frowned upon. Most of La is kept alive by big pharma!
