I stand corrected. It was a promotional video to doctors. Good catch. Oxy was so popular that it didn't need to be marketed in reality.

to brainwashing patients on TV.
How about a more educated (not academic) population that can make their own decisions?
Why should appeals to the patient be outlawed?

I had no idea that the US is one of only like two countries that allow pharmaceutical companies to advertise.
The other I believe is New Zealand.

There aren't many doctors who give patients the choice to prevent disease. Few patients are well informed about the effect that food choices have on health. Doctors are often as uninformed as their patients are. The destructive propaganda pushed on TV by Big Food and Big Pharma is very difficult to overcome.
Ultra processed food is destroying human health but a real food revolution is slowly growing in spite of fierce opposition. I'm going to protect myself and try to influence friends and family members to do the same.

For the better or worse of it, it’s a price of freedom?
You'd likely run into a First Amendment issue with an outright ban.
But you might be able to fix it by setting up Medicare Part D so that drugs not advertised to the general public are in the most favorable tier.

The pharmaceutical industry is rampant with abject corruption. Companies pay billions for the fraud they engage in, but even what goes on legally is an ongoing tragedy.
The advertising is only legal in the US and New Zealand. As absurd as the commercials are, there's a reason they spend money on them, as well all the gifts, catering, etc.
The pharmaceutical/health products industry also spends the most on lobbying.
Enormous profits "treating" "sick" people. Cause correction would eliminate a lot of the "sickness".

Yea, "K Street" reigns supreme in D.C.

Most doctors give type 2 diabetics increasing doses of insulin even though the disease is caused by excessive insulin. Type 2 diabetics can quickly get off all meds if they adopt a ketogenic diet that doesn't spike blood sugar.
Please don’t speak on something you know nothing about.. I’m tired of looking at keyboard warriors with no medical background try to tell doctors how to practice medicine
The fact is physicians at the end of the day are consultants to your own personal health. Preventative measures are always first line. Diets are great. They work. They’re hardly ever followed enough to lower a person’s A1c that wouldn’t require them to be on insulin anymore, though.

We’ve also been shocked at the side effects that seem to trump the targeted benefits (they only do it for CYA).
This is really no different than the 10,000 word thesis listing every possible side effect that could ever possibly happen printed on the back of every drug fact sheet you get with every prescription you pick up.
At least the commercials help inform the patient of most available options. From personal experience, some doctors just don't want to even consider anything that they haven't thought of or are not informed on.

Most people just do not care enough to take it serious. That is not your problem. You can lead a horse to water but you can't make them drink.

Apparently you are the one who knows nothing.
Most insulin dependent patients with type 2 diabetes can come off all meds simply be restricting carbs and eliminating factory fats.
Learn about doctors Jason Fung, Sarah Hallberg and many of the other clinicians who speak on the Low Carb Down Under YouTube channel.
Dr. Sarah Hallberg ran a clinical trial at Indiana University in which 60% of her 500 type 2 Diabetic patients totally reversed their "incurable" diabetes after one year. Those patients were off all meds.

This seems like as good a thread as any
Why are my “I’m in pain” choices only:
Tramadol- does nothing
Hydrocodone- puts me to sleep, otherwise useless
OxyContin- please turn me into a junkie
Is that the best we can do America?
