The push, even in CA, is towards green energy. This includes a bunch of different aspects in production including carbon capture and digesting, solar and wind providing power to plants, biodiesel, low sulfur, and ethanol production from things like waste vegetation/wood.

All which emit CO2 and why ethanol plants are scarce or demolished in CA. This why the closest ones are in Nevada
