Buddy of mines son just joined the Air Force and I am fairly certain he kept his cell phone through basic. He sure did text home a lot. I went through Air Force basic in 92...they could still get a little physical with you and yell at you and be pretty demeaning. Now, apparently they have stress cards you can present and they can’t yell at you again for like an hour. I wish I was joking.

My daughter is serving in the Air Force as I once did. They take your phone away. They will only let you use it to phone home to let the family know you arrived safely for maybe a minute and then after a few weeks they may give you 15 minutes. Only when you get near the end is when you might get a little time.

Here's a funny story..When I attended my daughter's graduation, we took her to lunch at this shopping complex next to her dorm where all of the troops go to get sundry items, uniform items, haircuts and they have some fast food places that the instructors also use. There was a new cadet that was trying to call home and he had to use a pay phone since he was not allowed his cell phone. He didn't know how to use a pay phone. I helped the kid out and moved on...LOL
The Air Force is more similar than it isn't from when I served. Anyone who has served in any decade knows there was bullshite to deal with from politicians.

Personally, I think a 2 year conscription would with a 4 year Reserve Status would do wonders for this generation. The "Free Education" crowd would see a generation of kids learning meaningful trades that could make them a damn fine living in the civilian world.

On one hand, I think this would help immensely in giving the youth discipline and maybe patriotism. On the other, I don't agree with forcing people to become cannon fodder for the globalist elites. If the military was strictly a defense force, then I would be all for it. But I'm not sending my kid to die in a foreign land so politicians and defense contractors can make even more money while the media and swamp creatures tell him he is evil just for being white and having good values.

I agree 100% with this. Would need to be some exceptions for students who receive scholarships etc. but the vast majority of teenagers could use/benefit from serving.
