Not sure if this would be better here or on the Outdoor Board or just the OT, but I wanted to ask if anyone here had any experience with this particular grill? I've seen Rec Tec mentioned somewhere here highly before, but I really don't have any use for one of their really big units. This is about the size of a traditional Weber Kettle but it runs on the wood pellets.

I've seen mostly tremendously good reviews, but a handful of terrible ones. Any first hand experiences with this particular model from anyone here? Thoughts? Thanks.

They both own one and can give you a review, so I tagged them

I’ve been having one since December and I love it. No problem with low and slow, although putting water pans underneath the grates is a must. Also gets hot AF (750 degrees hot) in minutes. Everything in between gives whatever you’re grilling a nice kiss of smoke flavor. I got the griddle top as well. Not nearly as convenient as a Blackstone, etc, but it’s been quite nice too.

What he said

Pulling the last of the bacon off of the small one
Flattop grilling is also sweet on the 380

What's the benefit of this?

Aftermarket add on or something from them? I've seen some people with aftermarket cast iron grate tops they used to replace the grill top which came with it.

I mean, what's the benefit of adding a pan of water? I do this when I bake bread in the oven because it helps the first spring, but I've never done this on an outside grill. Just adds moisture or something? Keeps it from overheating?

The 380 does not have a drip pan for grease like the one behind mine has. He is using it for that purpose. You don’t need a water pan for pellet grills, there is rotating moisture.

Yes. Adds moisture and disperses heat, which is more direct on the Bullseye.

Ah...yeah, was gonna ask about that. Saw there was also a pad they sell and others have mentioned that there can be some dripping onto the ground. Just stained and sealed my pavers so I'd like to protect that. Great idea.

FYI, all the Weber 22.5 grates/grills/devices fit on the 380

I got theirs. I don’t see why any other that fits wouldn’t work just fine though. No grease hole, but it does the job.

I got my 380 Thursday and did 2 racks of Baby Backs Saturday. 225 for 3 hrs then 2 hours wrapped. Took out of foil and put back on rack for a little bit to crisp em up. I used the Lane's Signature rub. When I wrapped I put some brown sugar and Parkay on the foil and wrapped meat side down.

They were outstanding. Did some vegetables too.
