are there any plans in the works for stadium expansion? Heard on the radio last night that the horns had 98K last week at their opener, had no idea they could hold that many. You know it's about keeping up with Jones' in college sports so I was wondering where that stood.

The stadium is ready for the same this coming Saturday...it took a little damage, but minor in the grand scheme of things...some glass and seat repair.

Im sure if we consistently stay near the top of the college football world eventually we will expand. The dollar signs $$$$ will be too much to pass up. I havent heard of any new plans. What side would they close up first. I would think the S. endzone because there is more room.

You guys are about like us. You do not expand when you are only pulling in about 75k against cupcakes. At the end of the year this year (even year) look at the actual attendance and consider whether expansion is a pressing issue.

Just think we built the 2nd upper deck during a decade of really bad football with a couple of average seasons.

If we start closing in the endzones, then the stadium will lose its coliseum-like aesthetics. There is a reason why all of the pics you see of Tiger Stadium are from the North endzone. Because upper decks cover up the beauty of the original stadium. In order for it to look good, we would have to 1st remove a scoreboard and put it where? then wall in the stilts that hold up the upper decks.

Geez, I've already covered this. Doesn't anyone ever read?

With the recent updates to Tiger Stadium, it will be a few more years before any changes would be considered. As to the Horns, I will have to check, but I don't think they can hold over 90k folks. What amazes me is why would Miss. St travel to La. Tech?? I guess you could almost say the same thing for Texas, travling to New Orleans to play Tulane. With the idea of making money, which you know is important to LSU, it is the very reason why LSU is carefull who they schedule for home & away games. Not that I blame LSU, just look how much they have increased spending for recruiting alone. To stay on top, you have to spend the big bucks to keep up with the Joneses.

So why did we add onto the upper deck if we were so worried about aesthetics. Also the colliseum in rome was originally closed in. We could build the stadium and still be congruent with the original design and architecture.

Im sure the engineers could find a great place for the scoreboard.

it doesnt matter if you fill it up for the cup cakes.as long as you sell out for the season then lsu is still making money.even though the seats might be 3/4 full ,lsu still got paid. we only had 300 tickets to sell this year as season tickets with over 13000 request.we could easily sell out a south upper.

I think we should expand to 300,000 seats with a hotel and water park in the south endzone.

It is only a matter of time before they expand the stadium again. I give it 10 years. But all you see from the east and west are stilts, not the original stadium.

I think they should focus on tearing down the flying saucer next door and building something a little more fitting to a southern campus.

Not really. More giving you guys a compliment. AU has been pretty good the last several years but not nearly as good as LSU. I still bet we are closer to capacity than you guys (or as a percentage of capacity since you have more seats) year in and year out. If we had won 2 NC's this decade, we would probably be sold out against the Citadel. So far we have sold out against two subpar teams this year. We probably need to expand more than you, but we are building a new basketball arena and athlete housing now.

You sir are an idiot. We have 90000+ every game. And I guarantee you it would have been sold out last week if half the state wasn't evacuating!

Thin skin. LSU is God's gift and everyone else sucks.

Typical ranter with no objectivity that doesn't like to hear the truth.

The new AD said they were going to make Tiger Stadium the envy of all of college football 1st by concentrating on the outside and then the new scoreboard.

Must we have this thread every week?

Why not limit this issue to once a year or if LSU has an official announcement.
