I know we have had several threads on roof repairs lately. This past Monday I noticed some water marks on the ceiling. Went into the attic and found a leak. Looks to be because of bad flashing. I then found another spot over the master bedroom. Lastly, a leak around the chimney. Called company out and got this quote. Seems outrageous to me for materials and labor needed especially after reading through some of the other threads this week. Please share your thoughts and even reputable companies that will give fair pricing in the Prairieville area.

That doesn’t seem too bad. Adding the ice and water is going to be a pain in the arse and shingle prices are on the rise.

Chimney flashing is pretty easy to do yourself but it’s a common issue

Companies we’ve worked with and had success.

I noticed I had 2 skylights leaking about a month ago. I called 4 places before I could finally get someone out. They installed a new ice and water shield around both sky lights and sealed around the chimney from an old leak. I paid $1250. This was in Luling. They were able to come a day or 2 after I called so I didn't get another quote.

You need to call a single roofer(as opposed to a company)..... companies don’t like to do small repairs as it’s not there best use of time and are usually a bit higher to make it worth their time to come out. Having said that, although that quote seems a bit on high side it’s not outrageous plus once you start removing to replace there is often unseen damage/further items needed to be repaired

I've been dealing with this myself, still haven't gotten my chimney completely fixed. Got what appeared to be an outrageous quote and went to get other quotes to make sure. They're all very high. $1200-$2000 to install a cricket, change some bad wood, siding and paint on this chimney. When I went to try and schedule the repair they were all backed up due to the recent weather.

I have reservations about hiring "lone roofer". At that point aren't you taking risks due to the license/insured part? I watched one of these guys damn near fall off my roof on the evaluation for the estimate. 12/12 pitch.

I’m in prairieville also and recently received a quote for $3,600 to replace the roof of my 1,200 sq foot shed. You need to get another estimate.

I use J&J Roofing in St. Amant. I’ve used them in the past and have had zero issues. It’s a lady and her two children, actually. She took over the business after her husband died and they do great work.

I just got a chimney flashing quote that was almost exactly the same.

However on further inspection they are recommending a while new roof which I wasn’t prepared for the price tag. Roof is ripped open and need to make a decision
