At this point I'd never buy a Mac simply because I can't get text messages on it.

Well, your reason is no longer actually valid, believe it or not. Texts can be viewed on your desktop. I use it every day.
Disclaimer: I’m pretty OS neutral and enjoy playing with all of them.

I get texts on my iPad all day. Kids get texts on their MacBooks too.
