He would have made the saints roster easily. Not so sure he makes the fins, unless it’s their practice squad.

Just found an article on that... LINK

Dolphins awarded defensive back Trill Williams off waivers

Release your defensive backs at your own risk, teams of the NFL. Because if you’re not careful, the Miami Dolphins will be quick to swoop in and pluck them off the waiver wire — as the team has done this week with their claiming of 2021 undrafted free agent rookie cornerback Trill Williams of Syracuse. Williams, a 6-foot-2 defensive back with ample length and versatility, was a surprise undrafted prospect whose draft stock appears to have been hurt by his medical profile. Williams originally signed with the Saints after the 2021 NFL Draft, but when the team cut him for a failed physical, the Dolphins were quick to pounce, adding him to their deep collection of defensive backs.

Williams, who logged 4 interceptions and forced three fumbles during the course of his career with the Orange program from 2018-2020, is a big-bodied, physical defender who gives Miami a crack at some developmental depth throughout the secondary. The Dolphins certainly aren’t hurting for cornerbacks, however. The team currently has high profile players at the position including:

Xavien Howard
Byron Jones
Noah Igbinoghene
Jason McCourty (a potential shift to safety coming)
Justin Coleman
Nik Needham
And others

But it is clear that Miami views their defensive identity as rooted in the secondary and having enough depth there to handle spread formations and account for injuries is something this team has made a priority. Williams will have a chance to boost all of the above. If he’s healthy in time for training camp, Williams may have the best odds of any undrafted free agent to make this year’s team — his primary competition is likely IOL Robert Jones from Middle Tennessee State.

But health is no guarantee for Williams, who will be looking to recover from an ankle injury that ended his 2020 season after just 5 games and appears to have played a hand in his recent hardship in trying to find a home in the NFL.
