Such an overrated trope. Why should every man know how to do this? It's not 1970 anymore. 13% of new car models last year were sticks. Less than 3% of cars sold on CarMax last year were sticks.
It's pretty outdated, archaic, boomer logic to think men should know a manual considering how incredibly remote the chance is anyone would actually ever have to use one irl.

Knowing how to drive a stick is about as useful as knowing how to ride a horse. Completely unnecessary in America in 2021 but worth having in your back pocket. I'd add knowing how to ride a motorcycle to that list as well.

This is true if you only plan on driving in the US. In other parts of the world you might find that not knowing how to drive a stickshift puts you at a disadvantage.
