Pfizer's COVID-19 vaccine earned the company $3.5 billion in the first three months of this year, representing nearly a quarter of its total revenue, the company announced ahead of its earnings call Tuesday.
The drug company giant said it expects the vaccine to earn about $26 billion in total revenue for 2021, based on signed contracts as of mid-April that amount to 1.6 billion doses of the shot to be delivered this year.
The company's previous forecast was $15 billion for the year, but its first-quarter 2021 revenues alone totaled $14.6 billion, an increase of $4.5 billion, or 45 percent, compared to the first quarter of 2020. LINK

Is this supposed to be a bad thing?

Sounds about right. They weren't going to develop a vaccine for free.

They fricking deserve it making a vaccine that quickly

$3.5 Billion on a free vaccine. Wow!

Now extrapolate the savings in healthcare by folks not getting the virus and not being hospitalized. You got to crack a few eggs to make an omelette.

Quite the business model
Problem (created/inflated)
Reaction (fear)
Solution ($$$$/control)

Pfizer getting paid was probably a byproduct of China’s release of the Wu Flu. Getting Drumph was the primary intent.

This sounds like the pharmaceutical version of the military-industrial complex. Government and industry and rubbing each other's back. If the government can sell the need for a vaccine to more of the public, they get more kickbacks and big pharma makes more profit.
I'm not against companies making profit after footing the bill for the research and development when the market calls for natural demand of a product. But this doesn't smell right to me.

They need it to keep pace with all the pay-offs given to politicians.

I own shares of PFE so I'm happy.

Profit Shaming? They developed a vaccine at their own risk and put it to market. They have a right to a return on their risk and work.
After all we are not communists.
