Yea, my understanding of waddle is that he’s ideally suited for slot work and underneath routes. Kind of a Julian Edelman type of route runner, just with ++ athleticism. He’s certainly capable of stretching the field, but I’m personally expecting far more drag and curl routes.

That said, I’ve also got waddle lower than most others. But that has far more to do with the guy throwing him the ball than with the routes he’ll be expected to run. And that there are just so many viable WR plays in today’s NFL.

This is not meant to be me crapping on your opinion, just sharing mine on a player that seems to be pretty heavily debated in the dynasty community.

Yea, I think he can be good here because of his run after the catch ability. Plus I wouldn't say he's super polished at this point, and Miami has two good outside WRs so it makes sense to start him in the slot.

Disagree- they may both get lots of slot snaps (at least early, with Fuller and Parker outside this year), but Edelman won with footwork and toughness, not really something I think Waddle will be NFL good at right away.

Drag routes, sure. A lot of times those become almost like screens if you hit the WR in stride. Curl routes? Gross. I don't want him catching the ball coming back to the QB. Let the man catch the ball in a position to get upfield.

I've seen the Tyfreek comp a bunch, and I think there are similarities for sure. I don't think Waddle has that kind of strength and toughness (Tyfreek is built almost like a running back). And Tyfreek is very underrated at tracking and winning balls downfield, which is uncommon for a WR his size.

My take is that Waddle's explosiveness is RARE. He was terrifying anytime he got the ball in his hands. I remember screaming at the TV when LSU would punt to him- and sure enough, he shrugged off a facemask to house it. I saw him obliterate too many angles and run past too many SEC defensive backs like they were standing still to think anything other than "this guy might be the most explosive college player I've seen in a LONG time".

I think he almost comps to a Desean Jackson with more natural WR ability? Which I think makes him a number 1 passing game option, or at the very least, an elite #2. Clearly the team likes him, and we generally think Miami knows what they're doing in this new regime. So to me, he's clearly a top 7 or so dynasty pick. Just too many things going for him compared to his competition.
