I'm cautiously optimistic.
Unlike a lot of folks here, I think Jameis is still an A+ prospect. I think he was both inexperienced and stuffed into an overly aggressive, reckless scheme at Tampa, and he was able to produce some numbers while also forcing a lot of turnovers. I've brought it up a couple times- Brady came in, and he and Ariens had a serious conflict the middle of last season. The offense they closed the year with (and won the Super Bowl with) was NOT the offense Winston was running.
I think Payton runs a much smarter offense, and I believe one of the main reasons Winston didn't play last year when Brees got hurt, was that Payton was completely rebooting him. Hill doesn't have the talent, but he had better understanding of the scheme design. I think with a year in the system, and Payton seeing what parts best fit his skills, we're going to see Winston come out looking elite.
At least, that's my hope, and I think it's a very valid and reasonable possibility.
If that's the case, I could see 11 wins next year, and a lot of potential to continue owning the NFC South like we have during Brees' tenure.
