You just have to explain it away in the following manner:
The stones basically grant the wearer/owner omniscience. So, Tony could see "everything" at once, and could place "anything" where it needed to be in that moment. If someone is safe, he leaves them alone, if someone is in danger he places them out of danger.
Yes he does that at a cosmic scale. Yes it's tough to wrap your brain around. Yes, it's from a comic book.
