I absolutely talked to my kids about how to act around police. Polite, no sudden moves, respond to their demands. For whatever reason you are in handcuffs, you say NOTHING and just ask for me. I will handle the rest.

Pretty much this verbatim. My pops told me to treat cops with the same respect as a rattlesnake. He's doing his job and doesn't know you from Adam. Don't give him a reason to be overly suspicious, and never resist an arrest. The one time I was arrested, I followed commands and got an expensive taxi ride. Fight in court, but not the arresting officer.
