loved season 1, but gonna wait until all episodes are released before renewing epix. I have no use for it outside this show.

I see the advertisements on Hulu for it. I took it as another version of American Gangster. I assume its not about Frank Lucas? If yall recommend, I might have to check it out. I am waiting for Snowfall to finish so I can binge, and that will leave a void.

frank lucas's mentor, bumpy johnson is who the show is about and about Vincent the Chin Gigante and malcom X. bad arse show especially if you like things like sopranos etc.

This show is complete fantasy honestly. Joe Bonanno never had a son die like that, Bumpy was close to some of the original guys but he played his part and paid his tribute or he would have been dealt with. The premise is comical. Not to mention Fat Tony Salerno was literally The real Godfather of Harlem up until his conviction in the Commission case. I get it from an entertainment fiction standpoint, but a little absurd. Not to mention Frank Lucas was a rat, and Bumpy's own wife said she'd never eve heard of him, yet he was his trusted driver for years.

Fat Tony was the Front Boss. The actual boss of the Genovese Family was Phillip "Benny Squint" Lombardo and then Chin Gigante after Benny Squint retired. Fat Tony was prosecuted in the Commission trial while the actual power structure of the Genovese Family remained intact. The Genovese Family was without a doubt the best at fooling the Feds and staying under the radar.

Im talking about Fat Tony kept his base in Harlem when many mobsters moved out and he was loved and respected there. A Godfather is not necessarily a boss, and people in the life routinely refer to underbosses, captains, consigliere's as bosses, in the sense that they are " a boss" to their crew/outrank them, as in they make decisions, whereas the "Boss" is the legitimate boss. if that makes sense. Bumpy was respected by some of the original guys as I said, but the Italians, Jewish, and Irish gangsters were in Harlem long before Bumpy Johnson and long after.

It's about Bumpy Johnson. Did 7 years in Alcatraz. Kept his mouth shut for the 5 families. After he realized the rules ain't the same for him since he black. He went to war with the 5 families

Idgaf they started s2 out so good.

The Sopranos was completely made up. Same kind of show just set in Harlem in a different time.

But the Sopranos wasn't a period drama based on a person. He "wages war against the 5 families?" Definitely never happened. Frank Matthews tried to cut the Italians out of the drug trade and they are still looking for him today as if he "evaded" police capture but he definitely got got.
