I'm thinking it had nothing to do with saving bullets. Sounds like they were dealing with someone that has never killed before, and probably had a vendetta against one of those employees. I mean, that's amateur hour if I've ever seen it. And stabbing so hard that he broke the knife? That's straight up adrenaline and emotion there. Had to be personally motivated.
