College Football Super League

With all the craziness surrounding a European Super League in *football, it got me wondering: would more people watch if there was a super league in college football?
Hypothetical league of 20: LSU, Bama, Texas A&M, Auburn, Georgia, Florida, Tennessee, Texas, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Ohio State, Michigan, Penn State, Wisconsin, USC, Oregon, Notre Dame, Clemson, Florida State, Miami
Those 20 teams would have to pay players in order to join. The tv deals would be off the charts and those programs would make more money but it would DESTROY college football for me. I would hate it, but it is a fun hypothetical to think about. There are some positives that could come out of this: football players can't complain about being paid, they may stay 4 years, better competition week to week, more parity among those 20 teams... Would you be excited about a college football Super League?

Here's what I see as some of the biggest hang-ups and issues to your proposal (hint: it's the same issue that revolves around all paying player issues).
One, the schools, which are still subject to state and federal laws, would have a difficult (likely impossible) time still getting around Title 9 on paying players, which means a school is still going to have to maintain the balance of female to male scholarships, while also having to pay the female players.
Two, in light of that situation, or even if they didn't have to maintain that and they were somehow able to only have to pay football players, then all of the profit generated by football and used to offset the expenses of the athletic dept. as a whole would no longer exist and therefore those programs would have a hard time existing without the use of state funding (tax dollars) to do so and would become very mediocre to bad programs.
If your solution to issue #2 would be to cap how much the players are paid in order to not have it eat into profits too much, then you negate your argument of players complaining as they would still gripe then they are not receiving their fair share. Additionally, the incentive for staying 4 years would also not remain if the ability to make significantly more in the NFL is still present.
Just my 2 cents.

I appreciate the thoughtful response. I didn't think about the Title 9 aspect. Yeah, that wouldn't go over well.
Also, why was this post moved?

No. At some point it becomes like NFL Europe, USFL, etc.
Parity and craziness of #1 being upset on the road by a 3-6 team is what makes CFB great. That and conference rival games.

Make it a league of 18 and leave out Texas A&M and FSU

There was a lawsuit that UGA and OU had in the 80's that settled this.

WTF have they done in the past 10-15 years to get invited to that league? Cincy, North Carolina, Boise and Ole Miss off the top of my head have done more than them.

Go ahead and add relegation while you are at it.
