That's a very pragmatic approach and it's quite sound IMO. As much as I used to hate it when my mother would reiterate that concept in my younger years, I now understand the wisdom in it. A relatively comfortable retirement ain't no joke and it sure doesn't come easy. And the peace of mind that comes with good health insurance as well.

Any city, county, state or federal jobs will have good retirement plans.

The problem with those jobs is they are competitive and they take a long time to fill them. I applied for the custodian position back on the first week of March but the job won't be closed until after April 30th. I just got a job but if I do get an offer from them then I will leave my current job ASAP.
