"Built on the cheap"? Skip is 100% responsible for the New Box. He bragged long & loud about how he would tour the country & come back with the best stadium design possible. He oversaw everything to do with its construction. And went cheap. CPM, on the other hand, had nothing to do with its construction. But comparing it to a brand new stadium is not a realistic comparison.

Partially. He made promises he couldn’t keep about the cost and how it would be paid for. In the end, it was the down economy that strapped much of what was planned. It got political.

Who is blaming PM?

ETA: Ah. Top of this page. PM is strapped by the loans still right?

We can compare it to plenty of fields that were built at the same time or even before and have been renovated. It’s still bottom tier of the SEC.

The new Alex Box has looked bland and unimpressive since it opened. Cheap metal bleachers. 3 different color seats in the grandstand. Box seating that just kinda floats above the rest of the stadium like they were an afterthought. The extremely cheap looking batters eye. Bullpens on the field. Even the light yellow/beige paint is boring. And lets not forget the beautiful construction equipment yard behind the outfield and the monstrosity that is the west side of Tiger Stadium.

Its just a cheap knockoff of the old Alex Box Stadium with no character.
