Just spoke with a retired cop yesterday and asked him about the gun vs taser thing.

He said due to the high stress of some encounters grabbing one and believing it to be the other happens more often than you think.

The only solution is to get rid of tasers.

I'm wondering if this should just be classified as one of those frick-ups that comes with certain professions. Absolutely every single one of us have fricked up at our jobs before.

Thinking in terms of professional sports. You will see defensive backs forget their coverage responsibility, and allow a wide open touchdown. Or an offensive lineman that blocks the wrong person for the scheme, and it leaves a wide open sack. You have NBA players who have shot a basket on the wrong goal.
Or of course, freaking JR. Smith, a 12 year veteran and he didn't know how much time remained on the clock in the NBA finals.

We all frick up. It just happens to be that none of our frick-ups has the ability to result in someone dying. I still believe cops should be held accountable, but just some perspective to think about.
