I think the direct listing tries to match buyers and sellers over time rather than just a free for all at the open, but now you’ve got me questioning myself.

Eta- Palantir didn’t begin trading until lunch, for example.

Look up how direct listings work. Or read Slackster's last two posts.

It won't open to retail investors for several hours after the opening bell. Could even be this afternoon. The price may be significantly higher as well from the reference price (initially I saw that could be $250/share).
