3. KEVIN JAMES. Uh, Kevin James the actor? That’s right. James is going to play Sean Payton in a Netflix movie called “Home Team,” produced by Happy Madison Productions. (Sound familiar? It’s the Adam Sandler company.) Imagine this: The plotline begins in 2012, when Payton is suspended for the season by commissioner Roger Goodell for the Saints’ bounty scandal, which gives Payton the chance to re-assess his life and put it in some perspective. As part of his new life, Payton becomes the offensive coach for his son Connor’s sixth-grade football team, the Warriors, in the Dallas area. (Thus, the “Home Team” title of the flick.) Filming of the movie begins this year. Payton read the script recently, made some corrections, and here it comes. My one thought about casting: James is going to need to lose a few pounds to play Payton.

At this rate he may need to gain weight to play Payton. Coach got fat

Someone saw the streaming numbers on Coach Lasso. I'm actually intrigued by this.

Is it going to be a straight use of the Saints and Payton's names or just one of those parallel stories where everyone knows who they are supposed to be? It says he will play him but I'd be surprised if the Saints signed off on that

Its hard to get NFL licensing in movies if I recall, and I seriously doubt the NFL would give it to this movie about a suspended coach that the commissioner fricking hates.

Well they can’t really stop it anymore. Ballers basically dared them to sue for using their stuff under fair use and the NFL couldn’t do anything

CrossFit Payton is somewhere shedding tears at the thought of being portrayed by Kevin James

I had forgotten about that

Apparently the Kevin James part is pure speculation and no cast members are even remotely confirmed.

Goodell planted the Kevin James nugget

As much as people like to shite on Sandler, he does a great job of keeping his friends employed and making (mostly) entertaining movies. Every single director out there has bombs (though quite as bad as Jack/Jill), but I think it's just become the go to joke that he's horrendous.

Probably just the plotline itself and not using actual names and people

Yeah I’m sure if the script was super incendiary for the league they could back channel with Netflix and get it nixed like they did with Playmakers but they likely don’t have to sweat out an Adam Sandler production about a kids football team
