I am familiar with his history. I know about his friendship with Charlie Sifford, I know about Player wearing golf pants with one white leg and one black leg to show his opposition to Apartheid and racism, and I have read his book from his younger days where he endorsed Apartheid, I know that Player was the first to have a black caddy in the U.S.Open, I know about Player being branded a “traitor to his race” and receiving death threats for his push to have Elder included in the S.A. Open.
The player I found to be an arse hole after working with him was Payne Stewart. Phil Mickleson as well. You familiar with “FIGJAM”?

Stupidly summing up a person by one period in their life, ignoring the culture into which they were born, and ignoring / flippantly dismissing the evolution and personal growth of the individual is ignorant and lame. You look at the individual in their totality and in fairness. You don’t ignore all the things Player has done in opposition to racism and define him by things he said as a younger man.

The original point made earlier in this thread was that Augusta National hasn’t asked Lee to be an honorary starter at any point since his career ended long who, but yet they choose this year to do so.

I’m not going to entertain your laundry list of items you think justify your hating an individual who you’ve never met.
The irony here is that the topic starter was about irrational eagerness to hate, not really about Player. And you dumbly waltzed right in to provide a perfect example of that in yourself.
