Anytime Ive ever had the chance to hit a graphite shafted iron Ive loved the feel but have yet to won a set.
Anyone here have graphite irons?
You like them way better than steel?
You feel you picked up a couple of MPH on your swing speed with graphite?

Didn't Rickie switch to those MMT shafts recently?

I had a set of recoils in my last irons. I really liked them. I just didn’t have the game for the Mizuno Tours that were on the end of them. I got a set of second hand of PXG’s so just kept the shafts that were in them, but if I were building a new set from scratch, the Recoils would be on my short list for sure. The ones I had were chrome, so they even looked like steel shafts.

Have a graphite shaft in my 4 iron. Don’t notice much of a difference

I had a set of I200's with the Steelfibers, wish that I still had them.
Had a set of G410s with recoils, but didn't care for them.

I am still using my Buttonbacks from 1971. I have gone from R300 steel, to X-300, to X-100, and back to R-300. Now, due to Dupuytren's Contracture and old age, I have installed a set of Graphtech graphite shafts in A flex. I couldn't be happier. I spined the shafts and put the softest side facing down range. With that and the low kick point I get a really high trajectory, which is perfect for the goat ranches around here. The graphite I found was much softer and easier on my hands than a comparable steel A flex shaft. Do they add more clubhead speed? I doubt it, unless the low kick point is adding a couple mph. I hit the 7 iron 150-160.
Oh yeah, the shafts were around 20 bucks each, without looking them up on Golfworks.

I've got the MMT's in my irons. They're fine. Don't even notice the difference anymore. I think that I swung faster at the beginning. I just slowed down my backswing.

Dupuytren's Contracture
How are you handling this? Have you had the surgery or that new shot?
It runs in my family. My mom has it. I’ve already started doing stretches in the fingers that the doc says should help as a method of slowing down progressions should it pop up.

I've been using graphite shafts in my irons for many years now. I think they are fantastic for my ball flight and my joints. I would say the only thing I have lost some on is when I want to work the ball, but with the new heads and golf balls I us I just aim and fire now.

I had the surgery on my right hand, back in 2012. The recovery and PT was rough. It is coming back again in my right hand. So far the pinky is starting to curl, but it isn't too bad, yet. My middle finger (aka the bird finger) also has some curvature to it. On my left hand three of my four fingers are curving towards closed. So far it doesn't affect my golf game other than my fingers get sore if I hit too many balls. Eventually I'll have to address the issue again, which will mean more surgery. As for what I do to counteract the effects, mostly I do the exercises I learned in PT after the surgery. I squeeze a tennis ball religiously.
Although I love my leather grips, obviously I am going to have to go to something softer soon.

I've played a few different graphite shafts.
Steelfiber is probably my favorite one yet.
Recoils are also good
But, I went back to steel and landed in the Modus3 and find them to be better performers than both the above. I have a bad leading shoulder and went graphite for a while. If I go back, it'll be with the Steelfibers.

Have you looked into the shot? It’s the commercial with John Elway. So far I’ve heard good things.

That’s the kind of stuff I’m doing now as a “preventative.” Basically the doc told me it can’t hurt, but it may not actually prevent anything.

No, I haven't looked into the shot. Matter of fact this is the first I have heard of it. I guess I need to contact my Doc. Thanks!

yes, I recommend them. I have recoil shafts in my 7 year old apex irons. Never thought I'd switch from steel and will now never go back.
