If the offensiveness is determined by the hearer, why does your opinion of redneck or cracker matter? If they’re offensive to somebody else you still shouldn’t use them, right? Black people certainly shouldn’t use them.
As I said early, there are degrees of offensiveness, and I suppose it is a matter of etiquette for each of us to decide exactly how potentially-offensive we choose to be.

My point is that the US as a whole has laughable double standards when it comes to race. I’m just wondering how many people here do as well.

I find it odd that “nip” is considered offensive, since it is just an abbreviation for the name of a country (Nippon) in the language of that country.
I was in law school before I even learned any of the slurs for Jews. There just were not any Jews around. I was in my mid-20s before I learned that the term “gyp” had ethnic connotations. I knew that “jip” meant to cheat someone, but I had no idea of the etymology (or even the spelling).
I suspect that there are still many ethnic slurs with which I am not familiar.

That video is too low res to tell anything about much of anything. The cell phone original would be in HD and if there was or wasn't a hammer would be clear. Also the police report would likely cover it.
