Public schools should have zero ability to enforce arbitrary rules outside of the school itself.

Private schools can have any contractual requirements for entry that they want.

then we shouldn’t complain that inmates run the asylum in public schools.

They’d like to deal with their problem students too. They directly lose lots of them based such vague reasoning as discipline and the school environment

There should be strictly enforced rules within school property and during school time.

If infractions occur during aforementioned time, the schools should be afforded the capability to discipline and/or remove said student.

Public institutions should not have the ability to police outside of their allotted hours and grounds.

I don’t believe that stance is contradictory.

You're going to have to explain to me how "schools have no right to tell children how to act outside of schools" equates to "the inmates are running the asylum".

Without hyperventilating.

While the students are in school, they have to follow the rules. Once they are not on school time or property then it falls on the parents to handle. Problem is, we have many parents who don't.
