Alright Ive heard alot about this past game, But what about Troy. They have played us close in the past and it looks like they are going to have a descent team this year! Plus with this hurricane coming thru , crazy week! I still think LSU wins and again all on the ground!

Hard to tell too much from their Middle Tennessee game Thursday night. MTSU is just awful with zero running game--especially in short yardage at the goal line.

Troy is rather small but they pursue pretty well and have an aggressive defense. But,this shouldn't be anything like the 2004 game. It should be like the App State game.

Agree, they gave us all we wanted last time we played them. Made the statement the other night that they are better than Appy state and I still stand by that. We should win but with the distractions of the storm and everything else I am slightly worried about this game. They have beaten Mizzou and Nebraska in recent years I just don't want to see us on that list.

If LSU does not turn the ball over, then Troy WILL NOT SCORE. BOOK IT!!

the good thing is I think they're still running Franklin's offense, although the athletes won't be the same, the looks should give us a little preview.

If you recall, that's why the '04 game turned out like it did.The stats were lopsided in our favor, but we made one stupid mistake--some of they really freaky-- after another .

This one isn't going to be close.

So they run a spread offense? Do they have a QB able to make it go?

That's because they ARE better than Appalachian State.

Troy will be coming along on the offensive side. Pretty vanilla against MTSU. The defense will be much better than what you saw with APP ST. There is no lack of speed on the Troy defense.

Troy most certainly has the athletes to run the spead. Smaller shifty, quick receivers. Same BIG offensive line from last year.

I believe this. On top of that I'm afraid with this Hurricane coming through our kids are going to be out of their routine. Hopefully because we've prepared better for this one the team won't have to deal with another Katrina type week.

My thought after watching Troy vs MTS the other night.

Troy 31 MTS 17
Just watched the game here in Montgomery on TV. A few observations.

Troy's new Qb was adequate. He only had 140 yards passing but only made a couple of glaring mistakes.

New tailback had 148 yards rushing, but team only had 160+ total and 300 yards total offense.

Troy's Defense played well. They held MTS to 270 yards and forced several turnovers.

I don't think this years team is as good as their 8-4 team last year but I think they will be better than App. State and I hope we don't over look them.

Thanks looking forward to getting this hurricane out of the way so we can talk football. Hope everything goes well down that way in the next couple of days.

I heard that this one might get moved. Troy doesn't play on Oct. 4 (LSU's open date), they play on Tuesday Oct. 7 against Fla. Int. and then both Troy and Fla. Int. have Oct. 11 open. If Louisiana is messed up by the storm, they will work it out. If not, LSU will go Saturday with a day less of practice.

I really hope this game doesn't get moved. I was happy with our defense on Thursday they stopped MTSU when they need and our new QB has a lot of potential. I'm not sure if he'll be comfortable enough to be consistent against LSU I know he made a good play at Arkansas and pushed down the field against UGA last year. I hope we can keep it respectable, get some experience, and leave without any injuries so we can run the Belt this year.
