quote:Personally, I suspect that this particular disparity is more cultural/environmental than anything else. They just don’t NEED those documents for their everyday lives, so they do not undertake the effort to acquire them.
But the question should be, why do poor blacks get a driver's license or passport at half the rate as poor whites?
Is it systemic racism where government employees refuse Ids to blacks, or is it a cultural thing?
So the question becomes whether they should be compelled to undertake that effort in order to exercise a right guaranteed under the 15th Amendment. I think it is a valid question to ask, even if my personal opinion is that the burden is fairly minimal. Of course, lots of folks said the same about small poll taxes 100 years ago.

Of course Hank. You know the rulings. You would laugh at someone saying you shouldn’t have to have an ID to buy a gun. Is there ever an argument where you don’t talk out of both sides of your mouth?

Is voting a sacred right? If so is it not worth a modicum of effort to secure and maintain the integrity of the process?
I believe I have seen where you agree with the above. I am simply tired of seeing you defend their position of victimhood as an excuse.
