It’s positive mental thought process for me I learned from listening to Bob Rotella (golf is not a game of perfect) positive attitude. Expect to shoot your best round every round. When you play five great holes do not consider it great or that you are playing above your head. Consider it as playing within your means. I don’t always keep a positive attitude, but when I do my rounds are always better. It cut five strokes off my game a few years ago and brought me consistently into single digit when I always struggled to break 80 before. I rarely think about shooting in the 80s now even though my physical abilities are much less than they were 15 years ago. When I do I know it’s an outlier and positive attitude is literally the only thing I have to attribute that to.
For physical the best advice was not trying to fix my game mid round. That’s for the practice tee. Play the round the way I am hitting it that day and adjust my game plan around my swing rather than trying to adjust my swing mid round. Even the best players in the world don’t hit it great every day. They adjust mentally to the way they are hitting it that day.
