I think it has to do with the nature of mRNA. Something about it degrades too quickly to cause much of a reaction the first go 'round. It lasts long enough to "prime the pump" and cause your body to start building antibodies, but by the time your body can fight it there's nothing left to fight. When it comes around the second time your body responds right away which makes you feel bad for a bit.

Ok I’m just saying 80% seems good enough to avoid potentially feeling terrible from a second shot when depending on your personal health situation you aren’t at much risk at all from the actual disease.

I have heard multiple cases of shingles that have arisen after 2nd shot.
