I just feel naturally Texas players takes longer to develop and are two year projects. No way that happens if this team is hell bent on making the playoffs next year.

Kai Jones skillset reminds me of a Jonathan Issac with more athleticism coming out of FSU. Unfortunately, he's going to take way too long to develop. Great ceiling but also high bust rate. Could be the next unicorn or the next Marquese Chriss.

I think that's mostly because their prospects of late have been all centers which has a longer learning curve in general -- Jarrett Allen, Mo Bamba, Jaxson, now Kai. I also have my reservations for Shaka as a coach, but that's for another day.

I don't know that Kai is the right pick for us, but I will say that I feel his ceiling is the highest once you get outside of Cade, Mobley, Suggs, Green, and Kuminga. The flashes he's shown have been other worldly.

I think I would prefer one of Keldon, Giddey, Barnes, Wagner, Moody, Ziaire as of right now. And in my dream scenario, we pass on Davion Mitchell in the lottery and get McBride, Garuba, or Ayayi later on. I think you just gotta keep going with the ceiling guys in the lottery to either hit on a star or package for a stud. If a team is trading their stud, they will want ceiling guys and not guys like Davion, imo. McBride, Garuba, Ayayi give you some of that dog mentality and extra possessions that Davion would fight for with more room for development as younger guys and at a cheaper draft spot.
