quote:This part is bait and switch as there are already elections laws for the military & disabled to vote.
President Joe Biden is slated to sign an executive order on Sunday that seeks to increase access to voter registration and election information.
"The executive order will direct the head of each federal agency to submit to the Assistant to the President for Domestic Policy a strategic plan outlining ways their agency can promote voter registration and participation within 200 days," according to the White House.
One element of the order calls for analyzing any obstacles to voting for the disabled. Another aspect pertains to military members, as it will "direct the Secretary of Defense within 200 days to establish procedures to annually offer each member of the Armed Forces on active duty the opportunity to register to vote in federal elections, update voter registration, or request an absentee ballot."
Here is the meat and bones of the E.O.
quote:So under the guise of the disabled & military being assured a vote (which already exists)
The order will seek to supply voting access and education to incarcerated Americans.
It "will direct the Attorney General to establish procedures to provide educational materials related to voter registration and voting, and to the extent practicable, to facilitate voter registration, for all eligible individuals in the custody of the Federal Bureau of Prisons," according to the White House.

Biden, just- like- that- makes it suddenly okay for those in prison to vote.
Next will be money snuck in some where so the democrats can go to the jails and do out reach and collect the straight dem ballots.

They are panicking already, they know the real numbers of the last voting cycle. You are going to see the Felons voting and mass immigration to try to change the numbers, for the future

Seems like a lot of his executive orders are pushed through quietly on weekends when less people are paying attention.

Some jurisdictions allow felons to vote. Others do not. Apparently, this EO is intended (in part) to facilitate use of the franchise for federal inmates who are ENTITLED to vote under state law.
Outrageous.
Outrageous.

I wonder what venue they will use to fund this outreach? Make us pay as tax payers to get prisoners to vote for democrats...
Was it is the bailout dem cities bill? (AKA th stimulus bill) with more funds for other States promised later?
Will they funnel HUD monies or just have Biden write another E.O. allowing funds for outreach (pay them off to vote D) to the poor prisoners?
Damned to hell the federal election laws on prisoners not being able to vote-just grab a pen Joe.
Hell, send ballots to the terrorists @ GTMO on death row to vote; with their covid vaccinations-we all know they will eventually get.

meh misdemeanors can earn jail time and should not bar you from voting. Its not like this bill makes violent felons eligible. There are plenty of flaws with nearly everything biden touches, but something like public urination or a driving violation shouldn't disenfranchise folks.

But that is what it says. It says for those who are eligible. If a convicted felon is eligible to vote in a state, then what’s wrong with providing access to register?

If they are already ENTITLED. Why did Biden bother with the E.O.? No matter how you slice this, it is democrats harvesting votes from prisons.

I am confident that you have a reasoned basis for this opposition ... something more than “they might vote differently than I.”
Please elaborate.

There is a difference in having the right to vote if you are registered and actually being registered. This is trying to move folks from the first group to the second.

Yup, in order to make the numbers seem reasonable, which they were not.

Show me where it isn't a loop-hole to just go ahead and pass out prisoners ballots in a local HUD and mark them all dem?
Democrats are the permanent majority because of their bills and Biden's E.O.'s. Who will ever question them? The FBI? The DOJ

Increased access does not have to mean more democrats of the GOP would do ideas that appeal to a broader group of people.

Y’all are scared of prisoners voting a certain way?

It "will direct the Attorney General to establish procedures to provide educational materials related to voter registration and voting, and to the extent practicable, to facilitate voter registration, for all eligible individuals in the custody of the Federal Bureau of Prisons," according to the White House.
The order comes after the recent House passage of H.R. 1, a sweeping package that did not receive any Republican votes but that the president supports.
quote:It sure looks like Biden's E.O. was a sly reach around...
Earlier today, a monumental vote occurred quietly in the U.S. House of Representatives. At the moment, the House is considering H.R. 1, or the For the People Act, a package of voting-rights proposals, including a massive expansion of automatic voter-registration and the automatic restoration of voting rights for people once they exit prison. If enacted, the bill will be the largest expansion of voting rights in America since the Voting Rights Act of 1965.
In response, Representatives Cori Bush of Missouri and Mondaire Jones of New York, who were both elected to the House last year, proposed an amendment to H.R. 1 that would have allowed those convicted of felonies to vote from within prison. Only Maine, Vermont, and Washington, D.C., enable anyone with a felony conviction to vote from prison, and other states are debating whether to join them. Some other nations, including Canada and Israel, have national mandates that extend voting rights to incarcerated people.
The amendment failed today in a 97-328 vote. Not a single Republican voted for the measure, and it also failed among Democrats. However, activists and lawmakers fighting to expand voting rights say they’re hopeful that the vote was the beginning, rather than the end, of a national debate on voting rights for prisoners.

Again, no matter how you slice this it leads to democrats harvesting votes with their feigned outrage of sudden love for those in prison.
