LSU 38, Appalachian State 17
Armanti Edwards is a blast to watch, but this LSU defense is better up front than the Michigan group he lit up last year. Worse still for the Mountaineers is all the experience they lost from last year's team. Plus, LSU's home setting is a lot nastier than The Big House.

Yep. It'll be close at halftime, the first half will have lots of promise and fireworks. But no later than somewhere around 5-8 minutes left in the third quarter the LSU line will have complete control and it will be over after that.

Michigan was doing pretty well late in their game too, they just had too big a hole to dig out from. Unless ASU can score 21-28 points in the first half the upset is unlikely.

If we dont win by 4+ touchdowns we are in trouble for the rest of the season.

I repectfully strongly disagree. The Tigers will play this game somewhat conservatively on both offense and defence. App State will score. The Tigers will score more, but, unless the defense creates 3 or 4 turnovers, don't expect to win by 4 Tds or more. The game clock will move pretty fast.

Yeah, but its far from your average season opening "rent-a-win". Alot of eyes will be upon us, and even a close game could result in alot of negative press, which could affect our ranking down the road. The VaTech blowout carried alot of positive weight last season, this could be the opposite if its close.

Bottom line, we need to make a statement in every game this year if we hope to get the voters attention.

Agreed, the running game will be the focus point of this game. Also, with a guy like AE, unless you play extremely smart and agressive defense, he is going to have this. I just hope that the only time I have to be nervous about this game is the start and the end of the 1st quarter at the latest. I can't stand first game stress.

Hey...it's his prediction. You can agree to disagree in an amicable way.

If they score 7, they'll be lucky on this dee.

MSU & VT scored 7 in the first two games of last year, and BOTH TEAMS were better than the ASU bunch we'll see this year ... and our dee will be as good or better than last year.

ESPN chose 38 as it's close to our 2007 scoring average of 39+ points.

How many we really score depends on how long they keep Hatch in ... I'm guessing 5 TDs for Hatch by midway 3rd Quarter ... another 2 TDs with Lee ... and a final TD with JJ

52-0 or 52-7 ... IF ... They are lucky.

I don't see them getting double digit first downs

Please get medical help.
This is the first game, it can very easily produce mistakes and reveal weaknesses...nothing to do with other games to come,
or..we would just have a "1 game" season.

We will be up by 21 at half time. Miles may call off the big dogs early in the 3rd, but the little dogs are also staining at the leash to take a bit out of Appy: 48 – 6. :jump1: :jump2:

I would agree with this. It will be close early but LSU will open up a big lead and then back off. Appy St will score in garbage time.
