The sears homes were way better quality than other homes of the era.

And I alway hear abotu homes being built cheaper etc...but the homes that stood up the best during hurrcane laura were the new "cheap" homes or the new custom homes. The new codes with the hurricane clips and other items makes a huge difference. Spray foam is another difference maker.

All those old homes that were supposed to be built so well structurally....got wrecked.


I am building right now and luckly finished framing before price increases. If i started building today, my same home would cost me 25% more.

Aluminum is sky rocketing as well. I believe glum is up around 30% this year. Kynar is up 24% or so.

The Chinese shipping routes got bought up a while back and nails are up significantly.

I don’t see how this doesn’t continue through at least Q4. I suspect a few natural disasters occur and will only further complicate the supply chain.

I’ve got some material that came with December ship dates on January PO’s. It’s just silly.
