Why is this necessary? Tennessee diversity mandate in schools

133,000 folks live in Blount county:
94% single race white
3% black
1% Asian
2% multiple race
If diversity is supposed to reflect the community how many non white teachers are needed to meet the state standards?

Looks like 6 out of every 100 teachers if going strictly on percentages...

6% of them need to not be white? And these are awesome schools for the most part but now they will force out good teachers that fit in to bring in teachers that greatest qualifications is that they are not white. Just a stupid idea. Taking a working system and frick it up.

Where is it written that minority kids can't learn from white teachers?

We really don’t have many minority kids. My daughter has now attended 2 different schools in Maryville and I doubt I’ve seen 10 non white kids total. There are less than 500 blacks in Maryville (population ~29,000). How many have school age kids?
If the black teacher is the most qualified person for the job without race being a qualification then hire them. If not and race is all they offer then why take an excellent school system that turns out quality kids at a higher rate than most public schools in the country and mess with it.

Keep in mind that Latinos are usually classified as "White" in this sort of data.
Is there a measurable Latino population in that part of Tennessee?

We have poor and section 8 housing. 2 high rise buildings (the Towers) and a project of sorts. But we don’t have gangs, violence, crime, street drugs. We have a culture that works, we had a prescription drug problem but they cleaned out the pain clinics and tightened up enforcement. It’s not perfect but it works better than most places and lowering standards for educators is not the way to make it better.
