I would agree if it weren't for the fact that the vast majority of those silent films featured privileged white males chauvinist pigs. Laugh at them and their misfortune all you wish. It's simply not mathematically possible to say anything that could be offensive to this particular group.

Yep. I remember watching the Dean Martin roasts. Funny as can be, but wouldn't fly today.
