Now a days any time someone contacts you that you haven't heard from in a long time you can assume it's a MLM pitch.

Unfortunately that appears to be true. I have a friend who is a great guy. He was a part of our circle of friends growing up really until the point everyone started getting married and having kids. His wife is a great girl and was somewhat friends with my wife early on in our respective marriages. But as we all got older and starting having kids everyone just kind of drifted apart.

Recently, for some reason my wife contacted my friend's wife. I think it was a deal where my wife and his wife were mutual connections of a third party. Anyway, my friend's wife messaged my wife and said we should all get together for dinner soon. Seeing as how we were all kind of close at one point and haven't seen each other in quite a while we thought it was a good idea...until a follow up message came which indicated the "secondary" purpose of the meeting was to give us some MLM pitch. At least if that is your plan just keep it hidden and bring it up casually in the conversation when we get together. But once I found out the REAL reason they were "excited" to meet up my wife and I said we needed to "reschedule".

Frankly, we were insulted. "Hey! We really miss yall and would love to get together to catch up! It's been far too long. Oh, by the way, I'd also like to try to uncomfortably corner you in to buying some MLM crap no one needs and try to convince you to be a member of my team selling this shite."

No thanks.
