That is one way to look at it but from my wallet's POV it isn't the course it would take. Give 1,000 people with a BMI of 34 COVID and 1,000 people with a BMI of 24 COVID and compare the costs of treatment and see which one drives the cost of the risk pool up.

I get the idea of the need for risk pools but I have a partner that is 6.1 and right at 3 bills and his medicine for a MONTH (almost all attributable to his weight) costs our insurance provider more than they have laid out for me in the last decade yet our premiums are essentially the same outside of my small "healthy" discount.
