Merrick Garland?

What is the angle with getting this guy into government. Democrats seem committed to getting him in a position.
To what end? What is his importance. This dude broke on the scene some 6-7 years ago and the Biden administration, by making his appoint a priority (first 100 days), is right back to pushing this guy?
Any thoughts as to why?

I suppose I get that but its not like they don't have an abundance to choose from. He seems important to them for reasons I cannot discern.

He was the sainted sacrificial lamb that Obama nominated for scotus even though he knew Turtle wouldn’t let him in.

He is likely already compromised and easily ordered/controlled.
Like John Roberts, for example.

He’s an experienced DC political player.
Guy has been in DC for over 35 years as a Supreme Court clerk, DOJ lawyer, corporate political lawyer, and DC Circuit judge. He has extensive connections and relationships with almost every political power player in front of the cameras and behind the scenes in the back rooms and dark hallways.
It doesn’t matter if you have a firebrand if they don’t know how to navigate and play through the swamp. Having someone committed to your cause that has access and sway with the levers of power in DC to get what you want done is everything.
To put it succinctly...
Garland is what Trump thought he had with Barr.

He's the guy they want to end the 2nd Amendment. From a judicial standpoint, his record was relatively moderate (for an Obama nominee, that is) on most issues.
If they really wanted him on the court, they would have nominated him instead of The Wise Latina(tm).

That is what Trump got with Barr. The thing is Trump thought it would help him with his want to help the people.
These folks in government are not helping the people. They just herd and lead where they want the people to go.

That’s what I said.
Barr had the connections and experience and Trump thought Barr would get things accomplished. He didn’t know Barr was a plant.
Garland has the connections and experience but unlike Barr he will get things done for Biden. Biden knows exactly what Garland is.

Barr got things done for Biden.
This is what I see and saw under Trump.

He’s a DC beltway swamp creature. He will do anything he’s been told to do.
His mission will be to crush the key players in MAGA. He will make it his mission to go after them.
He also hates Cops. He will have his little assistant US Attorneys indictingbthem left and right for civil rights violations.
It takes a really tough guy to go after street cops making $45k in this day and age.

Looks and sounds like a character in the Hunger Games leadership but so do most of the people running the country.

He's an "intellectual" (sophist). Kind of like Barr, he can pretend to sound smart, intelligent, while making the most excellent sounding arguments to support doing stupid liberal crap.
And the AG should be an attorney, so he's at the top of the list.
He also has some chips he's trying to cash in on.
