I believe it will. These mass panic buys lose steam over time. The vast majority of people can’t buy and buy and buy some more without it cutting into other things they like to do or real life expenses.
Production will catch up in time IMO

Who really knows, but a huge driver for the ammo shortage are the new gun buyers. There were thousands (or more) of new gun owners in 2020 and each one purchased ammo. It isn't just hoarders.
If new gun legislation goes through, no matter what it is, expect this trend to ramp up, not dissipate.

There were 5 million new gun owners by august. No idea what that number swelled to by the end of the year.
If it got to 8M then that’s 2% of the entire US population

I wonder about that statistic. Is it 5 million new guns in excess of what would typically be bought over that time frame, or is it 5 million new individuals that had a background check. Because if it's that second one, then that would mean those names would have to have been checked against an existing list of gun owners. But we were promised the NICS checks would never be easily accessible to avoid the government using them to wholesale identify who gun owners are.
So, which is it?

i ordered some 5.56 from OP back in july-ish last year and they went on back order until September. then they pushed it back to November, then December, so i finally just canceled my order. probably wont ever deal with OP again because i have a few friends who said they've had the same thing happen with gun parts.
