I don't get this. You realize that laptops throttle down and run slower on battery right? That is why the battery last longer, because they are running slower.

Thats not neccessairly the case. They may have settings for battery killers like screen brightness, but those can be changed. The M1 doesn't start throttling performance till it has a low battery.
