quote:

BATON ROUGE - More people will be able to obtain the COVID vaccine next week as the state extended requirements for who can get vaccinated.

The governor announced Thursday (Feb. 18), the vaccine group was being extended to teachers/school staff and people with certain health conditions between the ages of 55 and 64. Also included in the expansion will be pregnant women, regardless of their age. Daycare workers are also included in the expansion.

Local school districts will organize vaccination efforts for teachers and staff through hospitals, clinics, pharmacies or other health organizations. Teachers and school staff should receive information from school districts before Monday.

The expansion for a COVID vaccine to teachers and school staff is for all schools: Public, private, etc., the governor said.

The changes begin Monday, February 22.

Look, nothing against pregnant women of any age because they deserve all the care in the world but what fricking sense does it make to believe a pregnant 15 year old is more deserving of the vaccine than me, a 160lb 35 year old, with a heart condition? This really pisses me off. When is the governor going to allow those with serious underlying conditions to get this vaccine? This whole fricking time all we've heard about is how it affects those with a serious underlying condition way more severely than those without one.

Healthy elected officials can get the vaccine but I, a 35 year old heart patient peon, can't.

frick the governor of this state. frick him to hell and back.

No shite. 25 year old type 1 diabetic can't get it. But 16 year old pregnant girl or daycare worker can.

Persons 55-64 with 'severe obesity' are also newly eligible.

A friend's mom, who was severely obese, died from covid recently and though it is a terrible tragedy for that family and I feel terrible for my friend, I don't think people like that should have priority over me. I'm a 160lb otherwise healthy individual who tries to take care of myself who happens to have a serious heart condition.

Do I need to try to get hired as a minimum wage employee at a daycare just to get the vaccine then quit after?

If any of JBE's people are reading this: frick YOU AND THE a-hole YOU WORK FOR. ALL YOUR PRIORITIES ARE frickED UP.

If the vaccine isn't open to all by April, that would be ridiculous.

TDsngumbo,
I agree with you. The stupidity of this vaccine rollout is beyond the pale. I am 53 and have been fighting Stage IV rectal cancer for the past 5 years. I like many cannot get a vaccine but a twenty year old teacher or pregnant woman can get it while those of us with serious illnesses cannot get close to a vaccine. This fricking sucks

I bet if cancer patients had a union that supported JBE they'd have priority right now.

Didn't realize smoking was a health condition...

I've heard some doctors recommending pregnant women not take it...
